Artemis Smiles Honey Company

Pure Raw Hawaiian Honey

Artemis Smiles Honey Company is located in Ka'u, the most southern district of the Big Island of Hawaii. Named for the ancient bee-goddess Artemis, the 'protector of the wild', our apiary's bees forage the windswept wild forests and plains of the region to produce these very pure rare honeys. The bee yards are located at various elevations on the gentle slopes of Mauna Loa, the largest and one of the most active volcanos in the world.

Three types of Honey from Hawaii

In the high mountain forests, ohia lehua blossoms provide their delicious nectar which the bees turn into a creamy white honey.

At middle elevations, the wild forests of Brazilian-pepper trees provide a bright golden nectar for their orange-gold honey.

Brazilian-pepper trees (or Christmasberry)

The low elevation pastures surrounding South Point (the original landing site of the ancient Polynesian voyagers) produce a mild flowery 'tropical clover' honey with a hint of 'ehu kai' - the mineral rich sea spray carried on the wind.

Coastal pastures of Kau

All of these honeys are produced from areas that are wild and free of pesticides and by healthy, happy, unmedicated bees.

Year Round flavor:

These three types of honey are produced at different times of the year as our busy bees work year-round in the tropics! Our honey is hand-harvested with loving care for the bees and hand-extracted with attention given to purity. The resulting unfiltered, unprocessed, unheated raw honey is full of the vibrant energy of the Big Island. Raw honey has been used since antiquity as a medicine and health tonic, as well as a delicious sweetener. I am certain that it will be among the finest honey you have ever tasted!
